Overview

Users desire a premium WiFi experience more than a mere speed improvement-based offering. xPro addresses this need by combining faster WiFi speeds with unique features like device prioritization (up to 8 hours) and storm-ready backup WiFi, all within a single, convenient package. This project focused on seamlessly integrating these enhancements into the existing Xfinity app, creating a cohesive and intuitive user journey.

Role

Co-led the UX design efforts for the xPro integration within the Xfinity app.

Collaborated with product managers, engineers, brand marketing, and research teams across the company throughout the design process.

Challenge

The challenge was to integrate these new, premium features into the existing Xfinity app without overwhelming users or disrupting their current flows. We needed to:

  • Consolidate existing WiFi-related flows to create a unified experience

  • Design a clear and informative activation flow for new xPro users

  • Develop a premium visual design language that reflected the value of the xPro offering

  • Ensure seamless integration with existing app features and functionalities

We began by mapping the existing WiFi-related screens and elements within the Xfinity app. This allowed us to identify areas for consolidation and create a more streamlined user journey. We then developed user flows for the new xPro activation process, device prioritization, and storm-ready WiFi features.

Visual Design

We worked closely with visual and brand design team members to develop a premium color language through utilizing this deeper, richer purple stateful header design for the WiFi section of the app. The header provides a clear overview of the user’s WiFi status, while underneath we utilized easy of access to shortcuts like troubleshooting, and the device prioritization card, all in one convenient location.

Collaboration & Iteration

We worked closely with product managers and engineers throughout the design process, ensuring that our designs were feasible and aligned with the product roadmap. We also conducted regular design reviews with the team to gather feedback and iterate on our designs.

Solution

The xPro experience seamlessly integrates into the Xfinity app, providing users with easy access to enhanced WiFi features. Key features of the design include:

New WiFi Stateful Header

A visually appealing and informative header providing at-a-glance WiFi status, device prioritization controls, and troubleshooting options are all at your fingertips.

Streamlined xPro Experience

A user-friendly experience that guides new xPro users through the device setup and educational moments to enhance their understanding of the benefits of the new feature.

Prioritize a Device

A simple and effective way for users to prioritize specific devices for up to 8 hours.

Seamless Integration

xPro features are seamlessly integrated into the existing Xfinity app ensuring a consistent and familiar user experience.

Outcome

xPro is scheduled for release in April 2025. We anticipate that xPro will increase customer satisfaction with their WiFi experience and drive product adoption of premium WiFi services. We will be tracking key metrics post-launch to assess the success of this newest product.
